Guidelines
for Submitting Articles to the AMAA Journal
The
AMAA Journal publishes original papers related to the
medical aspects of sports, exercise, and fitness. Our goal
is to assist physicians and other health care professionals
in caring for active patients, in encouraging sedentary
patients to become active, and in improving personal fitness/training
programs readers use for all patients. Manuscripts are considered
on the condition that they are contributed solely to the
AMAA Journal (at the time of submission).
Research articles
should be between 1,500 and 2,500 words in length. Manuscripts
should be submitted via e-mail as an attached Word document to Managing Editor Barbara Baldwin. If charts, figures or illustrations are excerpted from another publication,
permission for use must be included.
The authors'
full names, degrees, and professional affiliations should
be included, as well as contact information.
There should
be no more than 25 references. They should be cited in numerical
order in the text in parenthesis and listed in the same
order at the end of the text. Reference should be formatted
in the style of Index medicus, as shown in the following
examples:

1990;
18(6): 87-91.

that meet the editors' initial criteria are then reviewed
by independent experts in the subject area of the article.
Authors are notified when we receive a manuscript, but will
not hear from us again until we accept the manuscript, reject
it, or request a revision.
Editing:
Articles will be edited to
conform to the Journal's style and format. An
